Success Stories

Welcome to the first pictures and stories in our new gallery featuring just some of the cats and kittens Feline Rescue CIO has introduced to loving families and keepers.

If you would like your cat to feature in this section, please contact us using our online contact form telling us your own unique story.

To be compliant with General Data Protection Regulations we have changed the names of the keepers where appropriate unless permission has been given specifically to use them.

Charles

When Charles (on the left in the picture above) first came to us he was a poor little frightened cat of no more than 2 years old, emaciated with matted fur, much of it so tangled it had to be carefully cut. At his foster carer's he gradually started to come out from under the bed to play and to be petted but still remained very timid. Then Beverley and Aaron entered the picture. Beverley takes up the story:

Before I talk about Charlie, it will be a good idea to introduce Bentley, our 15-year-old boy. An affectionate, calm and very loving Norwegian Forest Cat, but his world turned upside down when he sadly lost his sister and brother to illnesses within a short time of each other.

Losing them so suddenly was devastating, and more so, to see a cat suffer the grief and depression we saw in Bentley. He lost weight, stopped eating or grooming. He hid in unusual places, anywhere he could bury his head. His breathing was laboured, his eyes dark and sunken.

So we made the careful consideration of finding him a friend…

A picture came up of Charles on the Feline Family Finder page, and some narrative to suggest he’d been waiting for a special home for a while. And after a meeting, and a few discussions, Charles was coming home!

Charles was incredibly anxious. He very quickly started to seek Bentley out for comfort. Sitting close to his side and following him everywhere. Bentley was completely unfazed, allowing Charles to enjoy his warmth and company.

Apparently it can take beyond 3 months for two cats to begin bonding, but it took a mere 3 weeks for Charles and Bentley to become the best of friends! They became a comfort for each other and never leave each other’s side.

With a bit of patience we would use the word ‘cuddle’ to reach out to Charles for a fuss. Eventually, a hand touch turned into a pet, which turned into a belly rub, a lap cuddle, and now…Charles will allow anyone to pick him up!!

Bentley‘s calming nature has helped calm Charles nerves. And equally, Charles’ young and energetic personality has turned Bentley into a kitten again.

And for that reason, we can honestly say it’s not only Charles that was rescued, it was Bentley too.

Cody

Cody was surrendered to us to re-home because she was struggling to cope in a multi-cat household. Initially she was very shy at her foster carer's, but she soon showed her true nature as being a very gentle and good-natured cat. Karen, daughter of her adopted owner, takes up the story.

My dad, Eric, has had a tough few years. His wife of 60 plus years was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moved into a nursing home. Sadly a year or so later he lost his cat, Tilly. However after getting in touch with Chris through the Rescue site, dad met Coco (now renamed Cody.)

She has been a ray of light in his life and a much appreciated companion at home. She really has got him wrapped around her little paw and he adores her and cannot do enough to keep her happy.

I think it’s fair to say that they came into each others lives when they both needed a special friend!

Blaze

Theresa’ Gentle Giant:

Blaze came to us 13 years ago from Feline rescue as a 2 year old. He is the most gentle of giants. Over the years he has welcomed 5 siblings.  He's helped the children with their emotions, friendships and homework. Now he's getting older it's our turn to care for him.

Miu-Miu

We rescued Miu-Miu (already at least 13 years old according to vetinerary records), along with her mother and sister, from the Biscot Road area 2 years ago. Miu-Miu’s owner had passed away and her husband didn’t want to keep the cats.

Initially hostile, badly behaved and very suspicious of any human, she gradually came to trust her new environment and, although it took a long time, revealed herself to be the sweetest, gentlest, yet most quietly assertive cat!

Two years since her adoption, Miu-Miu is a wonderful companion, has come to accept visitors to her house, is playful and full of character and has a new best friend in her doting owner!

Apollo

Theresa’s Happy Camper:

Apollo came to join us via Feline rescue along with his sister Autumn.  As he grew so did his coat. He is very vocal and at 11pm he announcer it his been time and waits on the stairs until you follow him upstairs!
